We are a primary manufacturer supplying our own in house manufactured basalt mineral wool from our GTB Gas Turbine Basalt / Stoneshield range as well utilising other primary manufacturers of materials to produce our finished products.

Our Basalt Manufacturing Process

At Lancaster Insulation, every product begins its journey with the raw minerals.

Utilising basalt mined in the UK, the raw material is initially melted in the furnaces.

These are carefully processed, spun into fibres, and transformed into durable insulation materials using precision machinery and skilled operators.

From the first stage of fibre production through to stitching, cutting, and final inspection, each step is carried out with care and accuracy to guarantee strength, safety, and full traceability.

Stage 1: Raw Materials

The journey begins with carefully sourced raw mineral resources - the foundation of our insulation process.

Stage 2: Fibre Formation

Molten rock is spun into fine mineral wool fibres using advanced pendulum technology.

Stage 3: Stitching & Bonding

Fibres are stitched and bonded into durable mats, ensuring strength and resilience.

Stage 4: Precision Cutting

High-accuracy guillotines cut the material to exact specifications and dimensions.
